10 Indian States Where Women Lead The Way In Education

India’s northeastern state of Mizoram is one of the most educated states in the country. The rate of literacy in this hilly state has witnessed a major leap with overall literacy rate of 91.33 percent based on 2011 census. Mizoram, with 86.72 percent of female literacy rate stood as the third highest women literacy rate in the country. The total literates in Mizoram are 8,48,175 of which 4,38,529 are males and 4,09,646, females.

















India's smallest Union Territory, Lakshadweep bags the second highest literacy rate for women in the country. Out of the 92.28 percent overall literacy rate of this archipelago, the literacy rate of women is 88.2 percent. The women folk in Lakshadweep are mostly educated and are aware of their rights and responsibilities. More over out of the total 86 elected members to the Panchayat 33 members are females.




















Kerala tops the other states of India in women's education. Female literacy rate is 92 percent. Since ancient days, women in this state enjoyed a lot of liberty and have come across diverse women who are remarkable for scholarship and cultural accomplishments in their respective fields. They held high positions in all fields of public activity - educational, judicial, medical and engineering professions.
